About the Scholarship

Presented by David & Julie Rosen, PT, this $1,000 scholarship honors Judy Harris and Dr. Monica Vohmann. Judy, while not formally educated, valued education and instilled this in her daughter, Julie, a physical therapist. Dr. Vohmann provided compassionate, comprehensive care for Judy as her health declined. The scholarship supports PT students who demonstrate a desire to help others while overcoming personal or financial challenges in pursuing their education.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be a current IPTA student PT member in good standing with the APTA/IPTA.
• Be enrolled as a first-year DPT student, with at least one grading period of completed courses with grades on their transcript.
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Demonstrate financial need, providing supporting documentation.
• Submit a complete application by the deadline (January 31, 2025).

Application Process

Applications will be accepted starting November 15, 2024. Applicants must submit the following in a single PDF document to [email protected] by January 31, 2025:

• Completed cover sheet (downloadable) with contact information and demographic data.
• Personal essay (maximum 500 words) demonstrating the applicant's desire to care for patients and illustrating times they have overcome personal challenges that will help them provide excellent care as a physical therapist.
• Unofficial transcript from their PT program showing GPA.
• Description of financial circumstances and need (maximum 500 words) with supporting documentation (FAFSA, tax returns, W-2, tuition bills, outstanding student debt, etc.).

Selection Process

A panel of four reviewers will independently review completed applications. Applications will be scored competitively, emphasizing academic accomplishments, the desire to help others, and financial need.

Selected recipients will be notified by March 1, 2025, and recognized during the IPTA Virtual Assembly Award Ceremony. The scholarship check will be mailed.

Non-recipients will also be notified by March 1, 2025.
